A
Computer based on program developed initially to help improve the
timing of professional musicians and athletes. This program is now used
with children as well as adults to improve rhythm, coordination, timing
and the ability to process and sequence actions.
The trainee is given feedback through headphones that tells them how
"on beat" they are. The feedback guides the trainee and helps exercise
and improve their timing and ability to plan actions.
Interactive Metronome (IM) is used for children that have difficulty
with attention, impulsivity, motor planning, sequencing and timing of
movement and bilateral coordination deficits.
IM helps develop automatic control of movement, increase attention, and
improve motor planning skill. Improvement in the above areas helps with
smooth, coordinated completion of daily tasks, decreased aggression and
improves focus.
